Short Service Appointments. Short Service Appointments as Assistant Commandant for a period of 08 years, which may be extended to 10 years and further extendable upto 14 years.
(d)	Pilots (Helicopter and fixed wing) Commercial Pilot License holders Male and Female	12th class pass with 60% marks in aggregate and should possess current / valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) approved by DGCA on the date of Preliminary Selection.	01 Jul 1990 to 30 Jun 1996 (both dates inclusive).
(e)	General Duty(Women)	Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Mathematics and Physics as subject up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education with 60% aggregate marks of both subjects.	01 Jul 1990 to 30 Jun 1994 (both dates inclusive).

Note: (i) Maximum 5% relaxation in aggregate in the degree certificate only for SC/ ST candidates, NCC ‘C’ certificate ( 'A' grade) holders, Sports person of National level (Inter State & above) and Wards of Coast Guard uniform personnel deceased while in service. No relaxation for 12 th class marks. (ii) While short listing applications for call-up, priority will be given to candidates with higher percentage of marks in the degree.   

Additional Eligibility Criteria (a) The candidates failed in Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) or suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy are not eligible for Pilot branch however may apply for Navigator (Observer).

Selection Procedure:(a) Short listing of Applications. Short listing criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and the qualifying cut off for a particular branch or centre may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher %are received.

Medical Standards :a) Height. (i) Asst Commandant (GD) and Technical: 157 cms minimum. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations. (ii) Asst Commandant General duty (Women) : 152 cms. (iii) Asst Commandant (Pilot) and Asst Commandant Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders for Short Service Appointment (Men/Women): Minimum 162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length minimum 99 cms. (b) Weight. Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable. (c) Chest. Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms. (d) Eye Sight. (i) Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6 6/9 – Uncorrected without Glass. and Asst Comdt GD(Women) 6/6 6/6 - Corrected with Glass. (ii) Asst Commandant GD(P/N) 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other /CPL Holders SSA correctable to 6/6. (iii) Asst Commandant (Tech) 6/36 6/36–Uncorrected without Glass. 6/6 6/6 - Corrected with Glass.

Selection Procedure :  (a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Visakhapatnam during June - Oct 2014. (b) SSB interview will be conducted in two Stages. Stage I test consisting of intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the second dayof arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days.

Training : Candidate will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant in Dec 2014 and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships. Full Pay and allowances are admissible to the Officers whilst undergoing training.

Short Service Commission : Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirement and performance/willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. Important:- Officer inducted under SSC scheme will not be given extension beyond fourteen years & will not be eligible for Permanent Commission.
